Abstract: We have estimated cycle to cycle variation in the poloidal to toroidal solar magnetic flux amplification factor using proxy observation of the solar magnetic field for the past 200 years. The inferred poloidal solar magnetic flux variations during the period of study is found to show steeper increasing trend compared to the same for the toroidal solar magnetic flux changes. The possible associations of the above with different solar terrestrial phenomena such as solar differential rotation, solar irradiance, and of solar transient events will be also discussed.
