Abstract: Studies on the solar cycle effects on rainfall variation s in the tropical monsoon rainfall areas during non-monsoon seasons are rare.We have carried out comprehensive analysis of the winter season (Jan-Feb) rainfall variations in India in association with the sunspot activity during 1871-1990.We could find statistically significant enhancement in winter rainfall over India as a whole and in majority of its meteorological sub divisions around sunspot ma ximum.Sunspot activity association of winter rainfall in India is found to be mu text missing for monsoon seasonal rainfall ????
